Strongman Bill Moors puts Tiger Balm to the test.
Tiger Balm Red
I've been using Red Tiger Balm for the last 12 months. As a strongman in training I've found it essential. There are tons of muscle ache and pain relief treatments on the market and I have tried more than my fair share of them. As with most creatures of habit, I tend to return to what I know works best for me - in this case, Tiger Balm.
The small glass jar belies the power of its contents, but you only have to unscrew the lid to realise that this isn't your usual heat cream. The smell is addictive, mainly due to it containing cinnamon, the scent of Christmas. Can that ever be a bad thing?
Used sparingly I’ve found this magic little pot can help soothe muscle soreness and muscle tendon pain. I suffer with bicep tendon trouble and it's been a real boost to my recovery.
You simply massage it into the affected area (this also helps to get the blood flowing) and the effects are almost instant.
Tiger Balm White, RRP £4.67 is available from Boots, Tesco, ASDA, Superdrug, independent pharmacies and health food stores nationwide.
Tiger Balm White
It was with great joy that I discovered the White Tiger Balm. Instead of the familiar cinnamon smell, this version is menthol tinged. The menthol has a cooling effect, which is very w
elcome because, as my long suffering physio keeps telling me, heat isn't always the best thing for a strain or sprain.
There's a cool tingle that gets to work quickly and the effect seems to last longer.
I'd recommend keeping each handy and even for longer term use, switching between them. It's definitely worth giving both types a go.
